What we agree on.

WHAT YOU RECEIVE
Every day at 7 a.m. (Brasília time), that day's Mass readings, the day's three artworks and a short reflection. When a volunteer has recorded that day's reading, the audio goes with it. All of it in Portuguese. You choose where you receive it: in The Word group on WhatsApp — an announcement group, where only the admins post and your number is not shown to the other members — or through our bot on Telegram. Anyone whose subscription is no longer up to date is removed from the group and gets the link to come back on WhatsApp.
The reflection is a comment, not official Church teaching: it prompts thought about the text, it does not define doctrine. The readings are those of the Roman rite, in the CNBB translation.
WHAT IT COSTS
US$ 19.90 a year — the equivalent of US$ 1.66 a month. Billing is annual; the monthly figure is only a way of presenting the price, and nobody is charged monthly.
Payment works one way:
- International card — charged in US dollars, through Stripe, and renews on its own every year until you ask it to stop.
Access lasts 365 days from the payment, plus 7 days of grace — so that a renewal taking a day or two to confirm doesn't cost you a morning.
WITHDRAWAL AND REFUND
You have 7 days from the payment to change your mind and get everything back. That is article 49 of the Brazilian Consumer Protection Code, and it applies to any purchase made over the internet. Just ask; no justification needed.
After that period, cancelling ends future charges and does not refund the period already paid — which stays valid until it runs out.
HOW TO CANCEL
Your account page has two exits, and they are not the same thing:
- Don't renew — the next charge does not happen, and you keep receiving until the end of the period you already paid for.
- Stop receiving — the messages stop the same day, and the remaining paid time is lost.
You can also reply PARAR to the message itself. Nothing is deleted when you cancel: if you come back, it is the same subscription.
IF YOU RECORD THE READINGS
Recording is voluntary and unpaid. By sending a reading, you authorise it to be sent to subscribers along with your first name and profile picture, and you declare that the voice is yours.
Every recording is moderated before going out, and may be declined without that being a judgement about you. An approved reading gets a public address — that is the condition for WhatsApp to be able to deliver it.
The recording area is for subscribers, moderators included. Accounts may lose access if inappropriate content is sent.
WHAT WE DO NOT PROMISE
The message depends on WhatsApp and on the network, neither of which is ours. We do what we can to make it arrive every day on time, and an occasional delay or failure does not create a right to a refund — but if the service stops for a long stretch, talk to us.
Each day's artwork is computer-generated. When no volunteer has recorded that day's reading, the narration may be synthesised.
WHO IS RESPONSIBLE
The contact details of the data controller have not been published yet. In the meantime, use your account page to change or end the subscription.
CHANGES
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them, and any change to the price or to what is delivered will be announced in the daily message before it takes effect.
